How We Started
Since our humble beginnings in 2014, Mahogany Mermaids has clearly distinguished itself as a swim club that boldly confronts the misconception that “Black people don’t swim”.
This elite club is composed of 30 members with a limited number of new members invited to join us each year. Members must possess and demonstrate a desire to strongly serve in the Black community and correct societal and historical wrongs.
How We Serve
In the water, we provide excellent youth and adults water safety programming.
On the water, we provide kayak safety support and coaching at open water practices and races.
On land, we partner with other programs to provide school supplies, organize youth bike camps, and be the strong Black women role models needed in our community.
