Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills

A skills-focused course that builds on foundational comfort to teach efficient stroke mechanics, streamlined movement, and full-body coordination for confident swimming.

FUNDAMENTAL AQUATIC SKILLS

After completing Level 1—or following a swim assessment for new swimmers—you’ll advance to Level 2. In this stage, you’ll build on your basics with new skills like gliding, front and back crawl, treading water, and swimming on your side. This level focuses on harnessing your body’s natural alignment and rhythm to swim with greater ease and control.

Skills you will learn:

  • Enter and exit water by stepping or jumping from the side 

  • Fully submerge and hold breath 

  • Bobbing 

  • Open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects 

  • Front, jellyfish and tuck floats 

  • Front and back glides and floats 

  • Recover to vertical position 

  • Roll from front to back and back to front 

  • Change direction of travel while swimming on front or back 

  • Tread water using arm and leg actions 

  • Combined arm and leg actions on front and back 

  • Finning arm action
