Level 1: Introduction to Aquatic Skills

A beginner-friendly course designed to help adults overcome fear, build water confidence, and master essential swim foundations in a safe, supportive environment.

INTRODUCTION TO AQUATIC SKILLS

This is the starting point for adults with little to no swim experience or those overcoming past water fears. In a supportive environment with in-water coaches, you’ll build comfort and confidence through small, steady steps. By learning to float, glide, breathe, and move with basic arm and leg actions, you’ll establish the foundation for a safe and joyful swim journey.


**This program is scholarship-eligible through our partnership with Outdoor Afro.

Skills you will learn:

  • Enter and exit water using ladder, steps or side 

  • Blow bubbles through mouth and nose 

  • Bobbing 

  • Open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects 

  • Front and back glides and floats 

  • Recover to vertical position 

  • Roll from front to back and back to front 

  • Tread water using arm and hand actions 

  • Alternating and simultaneous leg actions on front and back 

  • Alternating and simultaneous arm actions on front and back 

  • Combined arm and leg actions on front and back
